Give an example of a media theory that links with negative media effects? Cultivation theory  What is desensitisation? When you see something which is horrifiying multiple times, then you brain will get used to seeing it and then you won't be as scared and horrified about it.  What is moral panic? An instance of public/mass media concern or 'panic' in response to a media product that is regarded as threatening to certain groups or debasing agreed meal standards with society.

Active audience theory

 We are able to filter and adapt to content in the media. We use this for our own purposes. What people use the media for: - building personal relationships (Snapchat) - escapism (Youtube) - surveillance (ITV News) - building personal identity (Instagram - Miley Cyrus)

Media effects and Regulation

Media effects - how a media product have an impact on the audiences behaviour.  Commercial means making or intending to make a profit  PSB stands for public service broadcasting The PSB remit is where the public has to pay to watch a certain TV channel, they have to make products which entertains, inform and educate to range to a larger audience. e.g. BBC Below the line advertising - where a company advertises there products through someone who takes part in that media e.g. Emma Watson would of said on her social media about staring in the latest Beauty and the Beast  Above the line - advertising a product to a wider audience e.g. on a billboard
